@huntingdon@mstdn.social TVs shouldn't even come with speakers outside of a small percentage designed to be ultraconvenient and small (say, a <= 32 inch dorm room TV). Built-in TV speakers suck and you can go all the way back to the 1980s to find good speakers that still work. My daily driver PC speakers are from 1988. In many cities in the USA, you can get decent speakers and an amplifier that powers them on Facebook for $80. Less if you negotiate, wait for deals, or check thrift stores. I say they're "basically free" but that's the long version of that saying. For example: - two speaker pairs in the trash - one decent, one iffy pair for $20 at a yard sale - tons of speakers at the thrift store and thrift outlet store ("bins"), all under $30 - mono bluetooth+aux speaker on eBay for $35
