Discussing cinema with Jeff today and the question of exposition came up. Quite a few horror movies work *really* well when nothing is explained and you just have to roll with it (e.g. Alien) and quite a few are made worse by attempts to explain (his example: Back Rooms, which I have not seen (and Jeff still thinks it's a good movie despite it)).
So, the question comes: is it a hard and fast rule, "don't do it", or is it an expert rule, "don't do it yet"? I figure the monsterdon bunch may know a good deal more movies to suggest examining for this property.
