@winterschon@mastodon.bsd.cafe Agree to disagree.
1. Perl is actually slower than every implementation of JavaScript
2. From node.js came https://libuv.org, the fastest async I/O implementation to exist and is used by a number software projects already, https://github.com/libuv/libuv/blob/v1.x/LINKS.md
3. Perl 6 was such a disaster that it's now called Raku
4. Having functions with arguments defined at the top like literally every other higher and lower language, would be nice
5. Big Perl codebases are difficult to read
6. Event-based and procedural-based programming are different styles of programming, both have their strengths and weaknesses
7. React is a game changer where context shifting is eliminated during development, backend / frontend consistency goes away, and full-stack developers replace dedicated backend and frontend developers
8. Perl is glorified awk
9. https://outspeaking.com/words-of-technology/why-perl-didnt-win.html
10. I have more clients that can execute JavaScript code than I do CGI/Perl

@mrhamel@calckey.club @winterschon@mastodon.bsd.cafe > and full-stack developers replace dedicated backend and frontend developers This is bad and hiring people to be full-stack must be illegal and punished with a drone strike. Fuck full-stack. Also, fuck running "web apps" in my browser in general, I didn't ask you for an app, render an HTML page and go away.
