Happy Disability Pride Month.
Disability Pride isn’t pretending being disabled is easy. It’s refusing to be ashamed of who we are because the world wasn’t built with us in mind.
We’re tired of having to prove we’re “disabled enough.” Tired of fighting for accommodations that should already exist. Tired of accessibility being treated like a privilege instead of a right.
Visible or invisible. Physical, sensory, cognitive, psychiatric, chronic, or neurodivergent—you belong here.
We don’t need to be cured to deserve respect.
We don’t need to be inspirational to deserve dignity.
We don’t need to earn accessibility.
Disability Pride isn’t just a month. It’s every day we choose ourselves over shame, our voices over silence, and our existence over society’s expectations.
Here’s to every disabled person who has fought to be seen, heard, and valued. May we keep taking up space, lifting each other up, and celebrating ourselves exactly as we are.
