First-mover advantage used to buy you years. Now it buys you a head start at best. U can spend months understanding a niche problem and building something thoughtful, and someone else can recreate a decent version in days just by copying what’s visible, and sell it for cheaper. So being first isnt the edge. The edge is taste, trust, distribution, and going deeper than whats obvious from a quick glance at the UI. Surface ideas get cloned. Depth is harder.

@sindresorhus@mastodon.social capitalism is a hell of a drug. People solving problems will always be worth something. Those trying to make a quick buck usually give up just as quick when returns aren't there. Are you building for money or solving the problem bc it exists to be solved? FOSS never has this problem.

@sindresorhus@mastodon.social LLMs are biggest help to copycats and similar parasites. Just pick successful app and create crappy clone and move on to the next one.
