TIL about The Great Toronto Circus Riot™️ of 1855, whereby American clowns beat Canadian firefighters to a pulp at a local brothel, in retaliation their circus was ransacked/razed to the ground by a literal torch-wielding mob, aided and abetted in no small part by the local Orange Order, and then subsequently the entire police force of Toronto was sacked for collusion and corruption. I love history. :)
