@ercanbrack@mastodon.online I'm not a dev (though I've written some midi related code here and there). You might point out that there are musicians just waiting to move to linux when it gets good enough for their musical purposes. I use linux more than mac these days but I still use a mac for music. I tried to move music to linux in 2019 and came away disillusioned, but I'm ready to try again as soon as things improve a bit. The main thing linux lacks for music, from my POV is manufacturer device drivers. They perform significantly better than usb class compliant on mac. But they don't exist on linux. Getting some key plugins I rely on on linux would also really help. If fabfilter, 3body, dmgaudio, TDR would all make linux versions and proper drivers were avail for my interfaces I would switch again for music. OTOH Reaper, Bitwig, Painoteq, and U-he are all linux native already it's a great start!

@xenogon@sunny.garden Well then, you might be happy to know that TDR just made the move to Linux. 🙂 All of their audio plugins now support Linux natively. 🙂 So one less thing on your list to hold you back from joining us. 😁

Very valid points IMO👍 I'm certain I couldn't have made it this far in 2019 as well, although the answers I got from FF, Threebody and DMG, etc. are still demotivating.. OTOH it's been reassuring to see more companies adopting Linux in the past year. I was kinda hoping JUCE would make it easy for devs to provide cross-platform support without much additional work. But I'm also not a dev, so who knows how cumbersome it still seems to potential providers.
