🇸🇬 The Land #Transport Authority (LTA) said safety and operational needs determine how bus lanes and road shoulders are used, responding to a suggestion that motorcycles be allowed to use them. It said road shoulders must remain clear for emergency vehicles, incident response and broken-down vehicles to ensure help can be provided quickly and safely. Bus lanes are intended to improve the speed and reliability of bus services, particularly during peak hours, and allowing motorcycles to use them during operating times would reduce their effectiveness. Outside operating hours, all vehicles, including motorcycles, may already use bus lanes. The LTA added that dedicated motorcycle lanes depend on available road space, local conditions and travel patterns, and may not be practical in #Singapore.
