@aurynn@cloudisland.nz yeah cloud is just. wildly expensive. I killed my one Catalyst Cloud VM because even the small one was just way way too expensive

@freya@social.highenergymagic.net yeah it’s not cheap, and overall is going to be more expensive than the long-term amortisation of purchasing the hardware, buuuuuuut, it means I don’t have to spend thousands that I don’t have on kit and spares right now that I just don’t have. And, I really value having my stuff in a place where I don’t have to worry about it, y’know? But, I also have recurring income from running Cloud Island, so I’m able to pay for all this, which makes a *huge* difference.
