I didn't have enough space to describe the photograph in the previous toot, but it's one of my favourites so far this year, in the portrait format that it now appears as my iPhone lockscreen 🙂 It's a lesser dungfly (Sepsis fulgens; 🇩🇪 Glänzende Schwingfliege), another ant mimic, cooling itself by evaporating water. Taken on 10 May. No AI – just my ancient Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 105mm macro lens, as with most of my photographs.
