This is how far behind and how much of a disadvantage Canadians are at right now domestically.
Walk into Canadian Tire and you can by a 500W "kit” of 4 125W solar panels from $1199. That works out to $2.40 per Watt.
Or, you can go on Alibaba as I just did... search for 400W solar, chat with a (AI Bot probably?) and be offered 36 620 watt "JinkoSolar" panels for $US 2500 plus $3000 shipping which works out to $8,510.88 CAD or $0.38 per Watt.
Our governments and business communities are completely failing us. We are getting fleeced.
Granted I don't know if there would be import duties, but FGS the price difference is totally ridiculous.

@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca Because the AB petro-cons are taxing PV I got an estimate for my roof: $17k (small relatively efficient house). I will die before I recover that investment in energy savings. Boosts the house value, but by how much?
