And I'd emphasize the words "web" and "clumsy" here, because activitypub is just another layer over the world wide web, which is by itself an application and social interaciton platform. I know I'm referring to "web" here more in the technological sense than what you meant originally, but when I saw that word, that's the first thing I thought: in the end, activitypub is just another layer over the Web.
