  @coolbean@brain.worm.pink well, the really weird thing is that if you look on wikipedia, it's like, "Odin is a war god", but that's based on a whole lotta nothing. 19th century occultists just randomly decided he was a war god. But that's actually Freyr/ Ingr. Odin is the Father/ King/ Shaman archetype in the Eddas and Sagas. So just because he goes to war, doesn't mean that is his whole raison d' etre. He's a God of creation, the sky, and wise leadership. Vili and Ve are the other creator Gods in Norse Mythology, and they use the body of Ymir to make the heavens and Earth according to the Poetic Edda. In the Kojiki there are 3 creator Gods before Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto are born. A primal being who is never mentioned again, and 2 other gods who create up until there is a water-covered earth. And Izanagi no Mikoto dips his spear into the sea, and the foam which falls from the tip becomes land. The Kojiki also mentions a sea monster called Yamata no Orochi which the storm God Susano'o no Mikoto fights. Like how Thor fights with Jormungandr. The extreme degree of similarity between Norse and Japanese mythology has actually baffled comparative religion researchers for decades. Nobody really knows why they are this similar.
