@reallylazybear@mastodon.social @fribbledom@mastodon.social You misunderstand. At wet bulb temperatures of 35C, the human body can no longer sufficiently dissipate heat. It doesn't matter what conditions you might have because you're a warm-blooded mammal. Emphasis on the term "wet bulb." That is not the same as dry bulb (what you're used to looking at.) https://unu.edu/ehs/article/what-wet-bulb-temperature-and-why-does-it-matter Though if your area normally has high humidity it does put your area at a greater risk of reaching it faster than many places will.

  • @nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social @fribbledom@mastodon.social Oh, so wet bulb temp is temperature + humidity combined. Given enough heat and humidity, fans will increase temps instead of cooling you. Did I get that right? Also sorry if I sent you the barrages of posts. I didn't look up what wet bulb temp meant and relied on experience...

  • @reallylazybear@mastodon.social @fribbledom@mastodon.social Anyway, regardless, my fundamental point was people are already dying to this and there will be more and more (and that isn't even getting into the way this drives worse and worse weather all around — yes even in the winter time) so a post that says "eh, I'll be fine, I have a fan and a couple of batteries" just isn't a suitable response.
