art rant: i used arteza's "pearlescent" gouache(water-based paint) for sprigatito and it was an absolute nightmare on black paper. it has too much filler to look sparkly when sheered out and just looks patchy at normal consistency. when you try to apply layers, it picks up the pain underneath even when touch-dry so you have to work with it thick and gloopy and UGH The colors were all kinda dull and pale and the pearly shimmer was just not where i wanted it at all, so i ended up going over parts of it with my own paints anyway. after i finished i tossed on the color-shift paint as a background cause my magpie-brain needed *something* i got those paints as a gift and want to find ways to use them, but they're worse than the homemade stuff in every way. making paint is so labor intensive and i just want to make the pre-made stuff work! i spent so much time on that painting and almost all of it was just trying to correct all the ways it kept going wrong
