🥒🫑🍆KYŌTO'S CINDERELLA🥕🥦🥔
One of Kyōto's most popular snacks for Tanabata is Matsuya-Tōbee's 'Tamaori-hime' (珠玉織姫), small balls of sugar and rice dough.
The sweets come in 5 colours, and although available all year round sell out quickly during the Star Festival🎋

The delicately flavoured sweets (each colour has a different taste) are deeply connected to the goddess of weaving, the festival of Tanabata (七夕), the city's famed weaving district, and Keishō-in (桂昌院 1627-1705), a local figure known by many as Kyōto's very own Cinderella.
