USA revolving around several trillion-dollar companies, and EU having hardly any, is supposed to imply economic superiority, but to me it sounds "if you're so good at growing, why don't you have more tumours?"

@kornel@mastodon.social Americans in general don’t seem to understand societies where they don’t see the same brands everywhere. We have many of the same problems in Europe, but Americans seem to be genuinely perplexed when they see a non-chain store, or even restaurant. As I’m fond of saying: we don’t need a national chain of hotdog stands, it’s a concept without any usefulness.
