just realized that Firefox's "Copy Image" button will, by default, expose the image as all sorts of formats, including JPEG, PNG, BMP(?), ICO(??) but then, if you try to paste it back into, let's say, Mastodon web interface, it will pick PNG, even if the source image was a JPEG...
