Also not wonderful when someone is going through something and you wallop them with "you can never win/it's so bad/just despair" which to me is the psychological undercurrent of a lot of this and why it bothers me. No dude! Your job should be trying to help someone keep fighting or stfu!

There's something really self-sabotaging about turning a good desire to analyze big social systems into a way to suffocate the real world problem solving for an individual fight, by forcing the one person doing it to dwell only on impossibly enormous and intractable problems.
