@cazabon@mindly.social The whole situation has been one hell of a ride... You'd imagine that short of John ActivityPub themselves one of the co-authors would understand what the fuck is invasive policy and to try and respect people. But nope! (also they seem to have been vaporized to dust over here so whatever's happened in the last 8 hours is a mystery)

@ZanaGB@lgbtqia.space Agreed, "you would think...". The vast majority of responses I saw were in agreement that this should be opt-in, not opt-out. And I think Evan (whose service this is) is fully aware that his choices are not publicly defensible. As a result of the comments on this thread, he (a) stopped automatically opting instances in if they showed up on a relay his bot-farm was following and (b) appears to have manually excluded my account (maybe my instance, not sure) from further boost-blasting. His reaction appears to be "try to smother the complaints" rather than "fix the problems that make people object". That says a lot. I have more to say, but I'll do it in a separate post.
