@Michigander@toad.social @xChaos@f.cz @shadowdancer@mstdn.social The devil's in the details. Like the nights don't drop below 20°C (68F) here in central Europe (Frankfurt, Germany). So the heat builds up and gets everywhere. What this means in practice: We are lucky to live in a well insulated house, so we can normally shrug off some heat spikes. But right now, at almost 10 pm local time, temperature outside is still 35°C (95°F). It's still 30°C (86°F) in our sleeping room. And humidity is somewhere between 50%-75%.

@billiglarper@rollenspiel.social Humidity is currently lower here... this is why the heat feels manageable. Nights were slightly under 20° here, according to data online, and we have cca 29° inside (which feels ok, because outside was 39° just few hours ago... now 31°) @Michigander@toad.social @shadowdancer@mstdn.social

@Michigander@toad.social @xChaos@f.cz @shadowdancer@mstdn.social You might be aware that AC is rather sparse over here in the first place. Like most patients in hospitals don't have a room with AC. And the existing AC seems often designed for up to 35°C (95°F). Which means now at past 40°C (104°F) a lot of cooling systems are struggling and failing. You might hear more in the next few days, but today cooling aisles in multiple supermarkets broke down.
