I'm trying to remember who on BlueSky originally (and positively/helpfully) inspired this post, but i don't wanna hear any reviews or GOTY opinions from anyone who considers "seeing the credits" as proof you understood or experienced a game
None of my favorite games are primarily narrative experiences. Im not here to plug a controller into a book or play a movie.
I didn't play Halo games on and off for 15 years because Chief and Cortnana were just THAT engaging.
I didn't sink 1000 hours into Blazblue because i gave a single fuck able its goofy ass inscrutable visual novel story
Street Fighter isn't beloved because we all have stories about beating M Bison.
Relinking the fire isn't the part of Dark Souls that spawned a mini genre.
Zagreus' quest to find his mother is the least interesting part of Hades
Show me you understand the allure of arcade gaming, of video games as GAME to practice and improve at for its sake, not just gaming as a series of increasingly immersive point and clicks.
