@Two9A@hachyderm.io I read that post, and honestly it doesn't explain what the issue should be. Following hashtags is useless on small mastodon instances, since it only shows posts your instance already knows. These bots are (like any other federation bot) a part to fix that. Besides honoring a "nobot" in the profile, I don't see why this should require opt-in consent. It helps a system to work in a way most people already assume it would. Posting publicly with hashtags means you want your posts to be found and interacted with, doesn't it? Why expect extra consent for something that purely serves this purpose? This isn't an AI crawler, it's not something serving external purposes, it's a feature for bringing the fediverse closer together.
