A sci-fi setting you can have for free that I haven’t come across before: protagonist society comes in contact with Others who are just as technologically advanced or more so but developed the wheel last in the world of simple machines and it never really caught on in usage because they had developed different methods for moving things. Bonus points if they also think trying to work with so many circles is absurd because if circles were easy then there’d be more of them in the universe to begin with.
