Have you watched Summer Wars? I've probably recommended this one to you before (I seem to recommend it a 𝘭𝘰𝘵)
It is a bit later, from 2009, but up there my my top 3 anime films of all time. Drop what you're doing and watch it if not!
Or what about Psycho-Pass? If you like the darker cyberpunk-esque vibes, then Psycho-Pass season one is absolute magic!
Ergo Proxy if you like a dark future, Serial Experiments Lain if you want to see where The Matrix came from
