My kid got this comic from the library called "Punk Taco" and superficially it's cute and kind of leftist and clearly has a coded play on Trump-as-nemesis kind of plotline.
But then there's this kind of played-off joke where the punk taco main character meets this refugee alien who tells him his name "poopoo padoo" or something that the author intentionally made silly. The main character goes "That clearly won't work, I'll call you Phillip."
And this is a kind of silly example of why if you're white in America and you think yourself really progressive and forward and anti-racist, you're probably not! And that's okay! But all of this annoyingly self-satisfied kids media drives me nuts. I'd rather my kid just read an actual story that can teach them something through empathy with characters and parable than poorly coded white savior nonsense that is actually really racist at bottom!
