old enough to remember when components in a living room entertainment center were best when they stayed out of the way of the entertaining as much as they could. you knew you had a great user interface for a component when the interface itself disappeared from the user’s standpoint; the user is interacting directly with the media, not the device(s).
now, of course, no interface is ever done, nothing cannot have a few more bells and whistles and toggles and fields to fill and suggestions to distract a user from the very thing they wanted to accomplish.
if anyone needs me, I’ll be in the yard, shaking my fist at the sky.
