Scott Galloway said he thought #Bluesky "cute and adorable & will die a slow & painful death," while noting that was "just vibes I haven't looked at the data... "I think it is a better brand than a business right now." (While he does praise small, independent digital & newsletter platforms.) @tchambers@indieweb.social completely agree! We can quibble about execution but the forces against BlueSky are broadly the same ones against the Fediverse.

On of Paul Frazee (of Bluesky's) comments that I loved was when he said in essence: that even though Blueksy and the Fediverse intentionally were doing different things that he only wished success for activtypub systems. And that we have to root "for every [open social] baby turtle to make it to the sea." If Bluesky fails, or for that matter Nostr, etc, the whole of the open social web effort is diminished, and closed proprietary networks get that much more entrenched. (2 of 3)

To the contrary: If Bluesky wins, or if Nostr or some new open, decentralized social platform wins, that only benefits the whole. The open social web is ONE web. I get prefering one, but being religious over ActivtyPub, vs ATProto vs Nostr protocols is silly and like POP3 email vs SMTP email etc, when in reality it was all ONE email system. Just so, the whole open social web benefits and is enriched by ANY of the other succeeding.
