In Japanese the equivalent idiom to "an apple a day" is "hara hachi-bunme ni isha irazu" (腹八分目に医者いらず), which can be translated as "eat until you're 80% full".
Based on an old Confucian saying, it means you will stay healthy if you do things in moderation🍰👀

Nijō Wakasaya's (二條若狭屋) 'natsu-no-fuzei' (夏の風情), a 'taste of summer'. Because it was difficult to transport fish and seafood to Kyōto, a great emphasis was once placed on cultivating the most delicious vegetables possible (a job made easier by the climate and soil quality). #Kyoto
