@Epic_Null@infosec.exchange My understanding of means testing (and I could be wrong, although a quick google showed I wasn't) is that if you have a full pension (because many boomers still had them) and possibly a 401k that they don't need, why should they be getting the same payout as those that are only relying on social security?

@mdfranz@infosec.exchange Honestly? I think if you paid in to social security (because that's how our system works), you should get you social security. Social Security isn't free. It was paid for. I'm paying in right now.Don't think I'll get it when I'm old, but I'm paying in. Plus, I see how much old people are charged for a living space. There's no "Money (retirees) don't need". But if I'm looking for something particularly damming: those 401Ks and Pensions are based on stock values. We need, desperately, for our elder care to not be based on the stock market. That is NOT a safe and secure system for retirement, and we deserve better.
