@Epic_Null@infosec.exchange Agree to disagree and this I'm basing this on folks I know and care about who I know don't need the money. Not some bullshit socialism. Folks that are VERY well off. We need to preserve the system for folks that really need it like you describe. Not those that don't just because they "paid into it."

Even if you could convince me that we should cut back benefits for those who are very well off, you'd have to convince me that despite precident, the "Means Testing" that gets built won't be built in a way that's cruel, punishing, and ultimately leaves the more vulnerable who rely on the system up the creek without a paddle. In our political environment, each program is likely to follow one of three paths: The rich get itEveryone gets itNo one gets it Given how essential social security is, I'd say the best path is everyone gets it.
