The BBC has told a judge that Donald Trump needs to prove he did not "foment or incite" the riot at the U.S. Capitol if he is to win his $10 billion libel claim against the broadcaster. Lawyers have subpoenaed 47 individuals and organizations in order to establish Trump's "true knowledge, intent, and state of mind" when he spoke to followers shortly before the attack. The libel case relates to an episode of the TV program "Panorama," The Panorama program at the center of the case, which included a clip that made it appear that Trump had told his supporters they should “walk down to the Capitol” and “fight like hell” before the riot.
