#WritersCoffeeClub June 19: What’s your opinion on writing which seeks to imitate a cinematic style?
If someone wants to watch a movie or TV show, they'll just go and watch that. If someone picked up a book, they should hopefully be looking for a _literary_ (by which I mean "told in words, not images") experience.
Verbal/literary storytelling should seek to do the things it can do that visual storytelling can't. Trying to emulate something that it isn't is a bad idea. 1/3

(And I need to keep this firmly in mind as I write and edit. I don't want to give the impression that I'm immune to the lure of cinematic writing. Not even close! It's something I need to get better at avoiding. My prior experience... 2/3 #WritersCoffeeClub
