I would advise not telling menopausal people to “get a grip” either. People in other countries are used to the heat, sure, but they also have the infrastructure to deal with it. 30 degrees with air conditioning is obviously different, wouldn’t you say? 30 degrees with siesta is also key. 30 degrees with education about symptoms of heat stroke, the amount of water you need to drink, and the importance of electrolytes is different.

    @akareilly@hachyderm.io @alicetragedy@mastodon.social yeah I have a medical condition that results in being unable to regulate my body temperature disdainfully telling disabled people like me to "get a grip" doesn't magically fix that and is a perfect example of hypocritically assuming one's "normal" applies to everyone
