What a curious headline. Who else would pay it? https://www.cnbc.com/2026/06/24/ai-data-centers-tech-companies-congress-energy-costs.html When I’ve built datacenters, I’ve had to budget for upgrades to nearby substations and transmission lines needed to get power to them. In Australia we call it the “augmentation fee.” It would surprise me if there wasn’t a similar principle in North America.
