I have some big ravens I keep around for the same reason. A couple years ago, they cornered a hawk in an apple tree and just circled around the tree until it finally took off. What they didn't chase off was the golden eagle that swooped down from probably a thousand feet up. I saw it waaaaaaay up in the sky circling around and just hoped it didn't see my chickens. It did, and probably had that hen before the ravens could even realize what happened. Anyway, I make games for the ravens with old chicken eggs that I think might be sketchy (they float in water). Those birds love them some eggs! They've brought me things like golf balls, pens, shiny rocks, electric fence insulators, but no gold nuggets or silver, yet.
