I truly cannot think of a good reason to curse or hex someone or something as opposed to enacting a positive working instead. I see this topic come up from time to time and the discussion always feels so immature. Of course sometimes people do horrible things! Working from anger is even very valid, but it must be controlled. Acting in the moments of blind rage before processing and pulling apart a situation will rarely get you what you really want -- let alone what you need. Someone does something horrible to you? Why not try to figure out why, and work that they may thus learn from their mistake, to suffer penance in the form of legitimate internal change, guilt with purpose, and then the kind of growth and amends that lead someone to stop a cycle of harm. You feel bullied, cast out, othered? Why not work that your "enemies" thus become your friends or your biggest supporters in an economic sense instead? Or that you find yourself with the people who will recognize you, be your real community? You're afraid because of the state of the world? Why not work that you may cultivate a garden of sanctuary for you and others like you, and in that work begin to create that which comes after dismantling, and also work steadily towards dismantling, intentionally, as to be aware of the collateral damage as it happens? Because ultimately we do better magick when we're fully aware of what threads of entanglement we're pulling on, stitching together, pulling out and shifting, weaving, entwining. Can you be *really* present in a curse? Sure! But if we believe in the doctrines of the flow of will and energy -- does feeding the rage really feel worth it, when positive deconstruction or growth or relation building can occur instead? Of course we're all angry, and scared, and grieving. We have lots of reasons to be. But I've yet to find a mentor who thinks that blind rage and casting hexes is the best use of our skill, and there's a few real good reasons for that. #Magick #Magic #Witchcraft #Pagan
