Today's bike club group ride¹ took us from Yonge & Finch up to beyond Maple, up Jane, through a ritzy bunch of mansions, and then back down Keele where bad luck with lights in the run down to Teston Road caused me to not set any personal speed records. It was pleasantly cool in the shade and warm in the sun. This run of the ride was unusually fast paced, and not just because I went off the front with a fast group.

At one point in this ride I set what may be a personal record for high pedal cadence in a serious situation, because I forgot to gear up for a mild ascent after a dip. The result left me spinning at over 130 RPM while going at 30+ km/h from the momentum (these two are related). Could I have coasted up (part of) the ascent? Yes, of course, but that's not me, because something in my gut says "it's a hill, if you slow down it's all over, go go go".
