PDF generation in Ruby is complicated. There are three realistic choices, really: Prawn (low level, move-here-then-draw-this type operations), wkhtmltopdf (pull in AN ENTIRE BROWSER and render to PDF) and HexaPDF which seems cool but has kind of a weird license?
