You’re thinking of Huawei. HTC is a Taiwanese company that used to be a major player among Android OEMs, but their business dried up and they exited the global market. I didn’t even know they were still making phones, to be honest.

I think I’m thinking of ZTE, the change was like 2016-2017. I had a ZUK phone at the time, and it was amazing. Lenovo bought them and incorporated them, and my Lenovo phone was also excellent but useless in the States due to using different bands/lack of software for the West.
