@castarco@hachyderm.io yea went through the same about a year ago when some other dubious stuff came out about them, and made the switch to Tuta. So far Tuta's been really good and the switch was pretty straightforward, and well documented by Tuta I waited until the end of my proton subscription and then jumped over rather than renewing.
