Anyway I have a reason for switching out GRUB: it doesn't appear if my primary monitor is connected
I've spent a long time fiddling with it, but I'm not even sure there's hope. My motherboard's UEFI UI also doesn't appear if my primary monitor is connected.
Idk if rEFInd would help but it seems worth a shot at this point...

Oh fuck I probably need this patch https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/nv-uefi-update-x64/ I don't think I've updated my 1080 Ti's firmware since I got it (when it was new). And my monitor uses a new DP version. I'll try it when I wake up.
