@ifixcoinops@retro.social My kids went to a curriculum-free school. They already knew how to read when we took them there, but in the info session before enrollment, they had a FAQ and the first question was "How will my kid learn how to read?" And the answer was that if you give them books about stuff they're interested in, they just do.
And when I was there for the observation session, a little kid came up and interrupted the adult I was talking to and asked how to spell someone's name so they could go kill them on the school's (student-run) Minecraft server.

@ifixcoinops@retro.social And now one kid is a medical assistant and the other is a data science major, so the school seems like it worked out.
