@vnikolov@ieji.de Sounds like I had their territory wrong; thanks. Up to a certain point in my history I had barely known any history at all, so even being wrong today is a vast improvement over my previous total ignorance. :) My wife is the Egyptologist; I've lightly studied the hieroglyph phase, but not very much the hieratic and demotic, so I'd have to refresh my memory there. The varying phonetic needs of languages certainly has caused a lot of change along with borrowings. @ohir@social.vivaldi.net @spaf@mstdn.social
