@x1101@toot.community @windigo@mastodon.sdf.org prior to the introduction of the fruit "the orange" to the English speaking world, 'saffron' was used by english speakers to describe the color "orange". Thus orange and saffron, being the same color in a basic linguistic sense, are interchangeable when stating one's favorite color, but in terms of color, they are separate and distinct.
What really matters is how the asker of the question views the colors.
