I walked into a linear algebra pop quiz (the "programming test") and did "better than the average" according to the graphics programmer that interviewed me.

So with this job application, the "HR person" / initial point of contact who read my cover letter and resume was not actually HR,but one of the other programmers.

new word I made up: scutibrained mistake : to get the definition incorrect but correctly identify the uses. scuti can not correctly implement a cross product function from scratch (without the internet) but remembers what to use a cross product function for from a linear algebra library.
