1976, Renée Richards is outed on KFMB by Dick Carlson. The next year she successfully sues to play competitive tennis as a woman; media uproar ensues.
Carlson later criticized the media's slavering stance, and his participation in it, saying, "There are so many other things I think are important and interesting but the media can be counted on to do handstands over that kind of scandal and sexual sensation."

Starting to wonder about graphing the frequency between media uproars over trans people to show how it happened more and more often. I wonder if the frequency would reach zero in 2014 with the Time cover.
