1870 Stella Boulton and Fanny Park arrested by the Bow Street Runners and charged with buggery, conspiracy to commit buggery, and (essentially) incitement to buggery. The two were known to go out in feminine clothing and had been under police surveillance for a year. Their upper middle class background made their story salacious in all the papers of the time, and also probably contributed to their eventual release (after more than a year of jail and significant police abuse)

    1974, Jan Morris appears on the Dick Cavett show to talk about her transition and plug her book about the same, Conundrum; the interview is respectful and coverage of the television show almost awed.
