It's become too capital intensive to fight them. They can be unprofitable for decades or more but you need to put food on the kitchen table. No cooperative or niche you can carve out can save you against this. Besides they changing the rules too -- no vpns, no GrapheneOS, etc..

Digital sovereignty is not a total solution to this. It's local dissolution. Same problem closer to home, which is better, but remember there is no turning the clock back. The systems as they are is where you start -- you'll get a local reddit, google, and app store, etc.. but when they hit the market who are they going to going to be doing deals with? Visa, Mastercard at least. Total digital sovereignty al la China hasn't fixed bad behaviors from enterprises - but I'm sure you'll fair better.
