Through all the stress of your demeanor,
Grasping just out of reach at
Deadlines, hauntings and hunger
It only takes a moment
Sitting at the edge of calm,
Wearing the deep melancholic blue
Of your eyes, here in nature's sacrament
To remind me I am
Solid,
Seperate,
Soft.
And that you, Mother, are the ocean.
In her vastness, she cannot love me
Without the stillness from her jaws,
The dread from her tender heart,
The comfort from her darker depths.
I am of her, and I am with her.
My own vessel.
Though drifting at the pace of her currents,
I find my warmth within the self
And my calm inside her head.
Although the sea aches to drown and to stir,
She also carries, holds, cradles inside of her.
And I find myself grateful.
My mother cannot give me
The love I hold for her myself,
But she deserves it nonetheless,
In her terrifying sickness,
In her soothing natural health.
I love you deeply, Mother.
Know that you made my heart
Strong enough to hold the light
You cannot bring yourself to keep
Inside yourself, in spite.
